Advice for MSU students part 2
- Walk around campus and find your classes and buildings before the first day of class
- Avoid taking classes in Dorman if you can ;)
- If you want to find good Christian friends and a church home going to Basic training at the BSU is a great way to start!
- Looking for a great little coffee shop? 929 on Main Street is the best and is a great place to study!
- Always make a list before you go to Walmart also don't go during the middle of the day Saturday because everyone will be there.
- During your first week of class, introduce yourself to your professors and go to their office hours. This is really helpful and can come in handy if you are on the edge.
- The Chapel of Memories is the amazing and a perfect place to study, get away, have quiet time, just enjoy some beauty,and sometimes hear the voices of cleaning people.
- City Bagel is a fantastic place for a meal and place to study.
- Stromboli's has the best pizza,and the 12 inch 1 topping pizza for $8 is perfect. It is perfect because it is fantastic and can last you a couple meals for 8 dollars.
- A great way to feel at home in Starkville and really start to love it is just to drive around town whether it is with people or just by yourself. I love doing it, especially if I have a lot on my mind or I am stressed. Plus who doesn't love driving around at night with your windows down.
- The Veranda has a blue plate on Sundays that is a good price for lots of food that is like a great home cooked meal.
- GO to games they are so much fun and get there early.
- Learn all the cheers and fight song
- Getting involved makes it feel more like home and you will enjoy your time more.
- The Perry is really good for the first month then it goes down hill so enjoy it while it last and always appreciate your mom's home cooking when you can.
- For parking, especially on the north side, if you find a parking spot take it!
- If you are going to leave campus during the day be prepared that you might not find a parking spot when you get back but if you do treat it for what it's worth GOLD!
- Eckies' Pond is beautiful and a great place to study, relax, and get away!
- Einsteins has the best coffee and bagels and is a great place to get a meal if you late studying in the library or are sick of the usual food in union or perry.
- Always remember no matter what study hard and go to class!
- Spend time with friends and have fun but don't let your school suffer there is a time for everything even fun. Sometimes it is necessary for you to take a break and hang out with friends.
- Intro to World Geography is a really easy class if you take it from Joseph Mitchell.
- If you are looking for a fine art music appreciation I have heard is easy.
- I took Art appreciation with A Callender its a lot of reading but the work is easy and the midterm and final are online.
- American Government with Witt Wade is amazing!! He is worth the wait.
- Education majors take Social Foundations with Christy Derby.
- Take Jonathan Eaton for Intro to Stats and Courtney Dueitt was amazing for Intro to Lit.
- Maurice Testa was an amazing teacher for Earth Science!
- Embrace whatever dorm you are assigned to, there are upsides to the traditional dorms. I loved growing close to my neighbors since I could keep the door open.
- Bring a robe and flip flops for traditional dorm bathrooms
- Starbucks on campus is a great place to sit and get stuff done in between classes.
- Making meals with friends even in community kitchen can be some of the best memories you can have.
- All apartments will have issues since it's a college town, but if you are interested in getting one for the next year I would have a plan and sign a lease by the then end of march.
- know who you are and what you like before you pick roommates, be careful and know how many people you can take. Personally, I really like only living with one other person. But the more people you live with the cheaper it will be.
- Give Starkville a year before you decide to change schools because everyone has times where they miss home.
- BRING A GOOD RAIN COAT AND RAIN BOOTS
- Christain girls looking for a great group of girls come to Sigma Phi Lamb's recruitment Aug 24-27, Christian sorority. You will not regret it.
- wear sunscreen at football games even if it's cold and cloudy! Check the weather before every game and if there is a chance of rain bring your jacket
- girls don't feel like you have to dress up for every single game!
- sometimes rewriting notes is the best way to study!
- don't take a study room if its just you! also, you want a study room you better get there earlier and cherish it if you find one especially during exam week
- the library will become your home at some point
- also if you go to the upper levels of the library please DO NOT talk
- if you wear your ids around your neck its kinda obvious you are a freshmen
- you do not have to dress up for class but feel bad if you want to occasionally
- lay out your clothes and pack your backpack the night before!
