Tips for Upcoming College Freshmen
I have just finished my first semester in college at Mississippi State, and I just want to offer some advice to you upcoming Freshmen. I know you are nervous and wondering what to do.
1. Bring some sort of coffee machine you will need it and want it later :)
2. Find a good roommate
you will want to have someone to come home to and talk after a good day or someone to be with
you when you cry.
3. Decorate your dorm room
if its with pictures canvases or whatever. Make it feel as homey as soon as possible
4. Find somewhere to get plugged into
if its a sorority, student government, random club it will make your college experience so much
better!
5. Find somewhere to call your church home
6. Be yourself, even if you are afraid of it be yourself
you will see you are so much happier when you are your true self, and don't let anyone stop you
7. Don't be discouraged if you don't find someone right off the bat that you click with automatically.
It will take time sometimes you will find a group and think I like them they are great but know its
not exactly where you want to be thats okay. You can and will find your place, it will just take time.
8. BE A FRIEND!
that might meaning just listening to someone, giving someone some food and hang out time, going
shopping when you don't want to, or going and picking someone up when they need you
9. Give everything a chance, and don't judge anyone before you get to know them
you could disregard someone or something that will change your life. For me I disregarded a great
girl and said I will never be close with her and had I not given her a chance I would not have one
of my best friends.
10. Don't forget to call home both friends and parents.
Don't be afraid to call if you really need something no matter what it is.
11. You don't have to find a boyfriend right away or even your first year!
12. GOD IS ALWAYS THERE!
13. Do not give up and move back home before you give your school a chance, give it at least a full year!
14. Bring a robe and shower caddy!
15. Bring a good rain jacket, umbrella, and flashlight
16. Always work hard, but at the end of the day make sure to spend time with those you love. Its those movements with them that you will treasure far above your success in school.
17. Get a planner and use it!
18. GO TO CLASS!
19. You DO NOT have to join a sorority to have lifelong friends!
20. Take pride in your school! Learn the traditions and fight song!
